The weather has been fluctuating between mid-summerish and early spring-ish here so much that we’re changing clothes three times a day (some of us much more often) and to travel anywhere–even the 10 minutes into town necessitates a complete wardrobe for each person should the climate there be drastically different. It often is.
We’re not complaining, we’ll take what we can get, and maybe all the ups and downs will foil the black flies (no luck so far).
Here’s a bit of what we’ve been up to ’round here:
Kayaking the Passagassawakeag River (just down the road) All the kids and I had a short paddle one morning, then on Mother’s Day Wylie and I had a longer adventure with portaging and some “rapids”. Good fun.
We’ve been working in the yard like fiends. The garden is loving the sun and the few showery nights we’ve had. Huge growth everywhere since last week.
Blushed butter oaks lettuce and olympia (I think) spinach in the cold frames. We ate our first garden salad this evening!
The pear tree is in full bloom
A few weeks ago we attended an amazing super hero birthday party for a small friend. Since then White Lightning has become a regular man about town. Its not uncommon to spot him in the library or shopping at the Belfast Coop. Keep your eyes out for his side kick, Bat Girl.
